Do you know that current technology utilized by Emergency dispatchers, doesn't allow for emergency text messages? As of now emergency departments are still struggling to track cell phone calls so text messages are the next step. The question remains, why 911 text messages? To be honest, it leaves me wondering. If you're in a real life emergency, can you imagine sending an emergency text message about the situation? Not a very practical idea, but it may yet be useful in some situations where subtly is essential. But there are possibilities for more uses.

Currently, analysts believe it will not be long before your cell phones, PDAs, Smart phones, et al. will become multi-use devices that analyze your health conditions. These applications and their possibilities are endless. But applications such as cell phones tracking your exercise routines, diabetes information, prescription schedule, and much more are a present reality. Even the medical world is digitizing data to better incorporate the use of technology. Keeping this in mind, a sudden unlikely change in your health condition and an emergency message to a medical dispatch may be just what the doctor ordered. Can you say life savers?
