First off, Yoomba has no affiliation with my last name, although you have to
admit it has that cool factor like Hambaba. But jokes aside, Yoomba claims to be
the world's first open communications experience which gives you the ability to
talk through your email for free, globally. P2P style structure to make calls,
sound familiar? So what makes this different from Skype and other VoIP clients?
A very small change that it inserts a icons on your online (Gmail, Hotmail, etc)
and offline (Outlook) email clients to call your contacts and the best part is,
you don't have to set up a separate user name and password.
Yoomba has a great concept to open the communication experience by making your
email address the point of contact. Although, you don't have to set up a
separate username/password to use it, your contacts have to download Yoomba in
order for it to complete a call. Basically, the barrier of software selection is
strong especially in communication. More importantly, the comfort factor still
exists and most people aren't too comfortable with installing yet another VoIP
program directly into your email client.
Yoomba is entering a fiercely competitive industry especially where most other
VoIP providers have a huge following. Although, Yoomba will definitely mark the
industry for its creativity. For example, it would be awesome to use Skype
without installing the application. Maybe google will install a feature in its
Google Talk which would allow people to call their contacts through Google Talk.
Pros
- Ability to call your Friends from your email client
- No need to register for an account
- Great Concept to remove barriers between different VoIP
programs
Cons
