Want some mobility with your lunchtime? Try out some of these new services that satisfy your taste buds by ordering your food with your cell phone. With a couple minutes and few button smashing moments, GoMobo and LunchrTime makes your life easier. Supposedly. You will not need to wait in line for your food at your favorite joint.
This is how it works. You find your favorite restaurant and select your meal. An additional feature is offered by allowing you to save your particular order with a unique text message, so you will just send the text and pick up your order. All these services are for free.
So how are they making their money? After all, that is the bottom line right? Welcome middle man. By being the middle man these service can charge restaurants a small fee to bring traffic to their place. The good part is you don't pay anything. After all, money's the bottom line right?
Great benefits for the social outcasts that don't fare well with people. To be honest, I view these services as a non-social luxury because most food businesses have a fax or telephone number you can reach or contact them through. Unfortunately, society is absorbing itself to the virtual world at an escalated rate. A balance needs to occur between technology and healthy human function. Cyber sex is bad enough, do we need cyber lunches as well?
Pros
- Free service for you but restaurant may pass on the cost to you
- Send simple text messages to order your favorite meal
- No need to wait in line. Pick up and Go.
Cons
- Makes you more lazy
- Not all restaurants are listed (Only those that subscribe to the service)
- Can't make custom requests
That's our word. What's yours?
