I've been using SMS reminders on Google Calender for quite sometime now
and it finally dawned on me that I am depriving my fellow gabbers by
not gabbing about it. If you're an avid user of any Google service,
then, you're most likely aware of Google Calender, which allows you to
easily add events, share events, and many has many other useful
options. I've been using Google calender as my scheduler because this
product has a great development team like so many of Google's other
products.
So here's a small tip that I find very useful, SMS Reminders for an Event/Schedule on your Calender:
Add Event and Reminder
- When you add an event to Google Calender, you can edit details on the (duh...) details screen (click "edit event details")
- Click the "Options" tab near the bottom of the page.
- Tab contains options for sending yourself a reminder, which can be sent at a customized time of your choosing.
Once
you have setup an event and reminder, you will need to setup your
account to receive SMS by verifying your cell phone number first
Set up SMS Reminder
- Under "Settings" (Top right hand corner) select the tab "Mobile Setup" and follow the simple instructions
The
beauty of Google Calender is the ability to have more than one calender
per account. So you can setup a schedule solely for work, school,
social life, etc. or keep everything in one calender.
Manage Notifications
- Under "Calendars" in the left column, click on the down-arrow button
next to the appropriate calendar, then select "Notifications."
(Alternatively, click on "Manage Calendars" under "Calendars" in the
left column, then click the appropriate "Notifications" link.)
-
You can setup reminders automatically for each event via different
methods, email and pop-up, but we recommend SMS especially if you have
a good data plan
Manage your day for free. Google calendar is where it's at.
