 Frucall a company that specializes in price comparison, just released it's mobile non-beta Version 2
(PR Newswire ).
The service has been in beta since October 2006, but it has been
catching a lot attention, especially from, investors (Frucall Smart
Ads). And now the bigger bang for your buck; the recent
additions, the ability to access the service via your mobile browser
(Frucall mWeb) or SMS (Frucall Text): Frucall mWeb
Steps:
1. To access the Frucall mWeb
Place url in your mobile browser, http://www.frucall.com/m
Enter the barcode and your Zip Code
Review the Search Results
2. To access Frucall Text
(Need to be Registered member of Frucall which is free now [http://www.frucall.com/jsp/frucall-text-help.jsp])
SMS number is provided by Frucall (Trial Number, 32075)
Message "FRU" (not case sensitive) followed by the product barcode
Results will be sent back to via SMA
We
panned around, using this service by searching prices of Cheez-it!, a
high-demand snack item in Cali. The test clearly showed what was
obvious about this service. It doesn't have a wide range of stores to
search from, especially if you want to compare prices in your local
market. Although, you can still make order on Frucall for the lowest
priced product of your choice.
PROS
1. No special software needed
2. Searches are more diversified than competitors
CONS
1. Can only search products by barcode
2. Still not that many shops to compare
3. Therefore, does not capture local market, an imperative for price sensitive shoppers
