In a recent study by a team at the University of California, Irvine led by Oladele Ogunseitan, tested 34 phones and reported that they could ooze enough unregulated pollutants like copper, zinc, etc. into water supplies posing a serious health risk (New Scientist ). With tons of recycling programs many people are still unaware of how to dispose of their cell phone, which can be a big concern as more people start to rid their phones for a newer, slicker phones.
If you're still not concerned then maybe this will wake you up; News on the recent Bee Zappers could possibly be caused by cellphone usage. Since last year, scientists have been researching the disappearance of thousands of bees from their colonies (New Scientist ). Originally the initial idea was that a new fungus had emerged, which was causing bee depletion, but a recent study by Jocjen Kukn at the Landau University, states that a possible reason could be the close range of cell phones to hives (Science Blogs ).
